Is there a free 360 photo booth app?

Yes. Several 360 booth apps have a free tier, including ours, and you can run a
real event on one.

The honest part is what comes next. Free tiers in this category are almost
always paid for somewhere, and the interesting question is not whether an app
is free. It is what the free tier takes away, and whether you will hit that
limit in front of a paying client.

Why do free 360 booth apps add a watermark?

Most free 360 booth tiers work the same way. You get the app, and the clips
carry the maker's watermark until you subscribe. Snap360 states this openly,
and ours does the same thing.

That bargain is fair and it is not the thing to worry about. A watermark is
visible, it is predictable, and you know about it before the event rather than
during it. If you are running a booth for friends, a birthday, or your own
practice, a watermark costs you nothing.

If you are charging a client, you will want it gone. Nobody wants your
software's logo on the video of their wedding, and that is the honest reason
these apps have a paid tier at all.

Which free tier limits actually hurt?

These are the ones that are harder to see on a pricing page, and they are the
ones that ruin an event rather than just marking it.

Event caps. Some software limits how many events you can have running at
once. It sounds generous at two or four until a busy fortnight arrives and you
are archiving a job you have not finished delivering in order to start the next
one.

Clip caps. A limit on how many videos you can record or export. This is the
worst one to discover live, because it stops the booth in front of a queue.

Locked effects. If the slow motion effects are the paid ones, the free tier
is a demo. The effects are the product at a 360 booth.

Guest data you cannot get out. If you can collect emails but not export
them, the free tier has your leads, not you.

Time limits. A "free trial" is not a free tier. Check which one you are
actually being offered, because the words get used interchangeably.

What should you check before trusting one with a booking?

Five questions, and you can answer all of them before you download anything.

Is it a free tier or a free trial? A trial ends. Plan accordingly.

How many events can I have open at once? Ask specifically about concurrent
or active events, not events per year.

Can I record and export as many clips as the night needs?

Do I get every effect, or the leftovers?

Can I export the guest contacts I collect? If the answer is no, the free
tier is collecting them for somebody else.
